On February 29th the Church commemorates St. John Cassian who reposed on the same day. If it is not a leap year, Cassian is commemorated on the 28th.

Taking up thy cross in childhood,

O glorious father,

thou readily didst tread the path which is hard and narrow,

yet of surpassing honor,

submitting to the commandments of Him Who called thee.

Wherefore, for thy labors thou hast obtained

as twofold recompense and fitting reward

the heavenly kingdom of Christ,

and a place wherein to join chorus in the light with all the saints, O Cassian.
